Simbraz, born on 6 June 1992 in the District of Milange, Zambézia Province, Mozambique, began developing his passion for art in childhood, creating his first drawings and paintings during his early school years. He completed 12th grade in Namarrói, where he produced his first work of visual art for the institute he attended, drawing some initial recognition. In order to support his artistic activity and buy materials such as paints and canvases, Simbraz took on various jobs over time to save money and invest in his artistic career.

In 2013, he decided to move to the city of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, with the aim of consolidating his dream of becoming a professional visual artist.

His work, predominantly made with acrylic on canvas, is characterised by a broad and varied colour palette and by the representation of themes ranging from urban scenes and cultural traditions to deeper reflections on the human condition. In 2020, Simbraz joined the Núcleo dos Artistas de Moçambique (Mozambique Artists' Nucleus), an institution of relevance in the country's art scene. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he faced difficulties due to restrictions and the closure of cultural venues, which led him to travel long distances daily to promote and sell his paintings on the streets of Maputo, seeking to generate income for his family. Simbraz is recognised for his determination to keep making a living from art, even in the face of challenges, and for his contribution to contemporary Mozambican art as a visual artist dedicated to painting.
